At certain points in life, we all benefit from having someone truly listen.
I am Yael Scott, a devoted therapist, mother of three, and a provisional member of NZAC.
Whether you are working through relationship issues, major life transitions, past trauma, or simply feeling stagnant, you do not have to carry these weights alone.
My therapeutic style is authentic, focused, and deeply compassionate. I provide a safe, confidential, and judgment-free space for you to express your truth, gain emotional clarity, and forge a healthier path forward.
I utilize a pluralistic framework—blending ACT, Person-Centred and Gestalt Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and creative arts—tailoring each individual session to fit your unique circumstances.
In-person consultations or digital sessions are available

Why Counseling?
You don’t have to do this alone
Life can feel overwhelming at times, and trying to carry it all yourself is exhausting. Choosing counselling is a step toward finding some space to breathe. With Yael, you'll find a down-to-earth, genuine human connection where your voice is the most important thing in the room. It’s about having a dedicated time that is just for you—no judgment, just an open heart and a safe place to land.
We will work together to make sense of the tangled thoughts and feelings that might be weighing you down. Whether you're navigating a specific crisis or just feel like you've lost your way, Yael provides the warm, steady support you need to build your confidence and discover the tools that resonate with your unique life experience.
True change often begins with being heard and accepted exactly as you are. In our sessions, there is room for the heavy stuff, but also for laughter and relief. My goal is to help you build a clearer path forward, feeling empowered to make meaningful choices at a pace that feels comfortable and right for you.
About the practice
Second Chance Counselling is a small, welcoming counselling practice based in Napier, New Zealand, offering both in‑person and online sessions. My aim is to create a calm, down‑to‑earth space where you can talk openly about what’s going on in your life, without pressure or judgement.
Some people come for support with a specific situation, while others are looking to understand long‑standing patterns, relationships or feelings. Whatever brings you here, we will move at a pace that feels right for you, checking in together as we go.
Counselling is not about “fixing” you. It’s about giving you room to breathe, reflect and explore, with someone alongside you who is listening carefully and taking you seriously.
